Contact Lenses
At Shannon Vision Care, we offer a variety of contact lens options designed to fit your eyes and your lifestyle. Many patients prefer contacts for the freedom they provide—whether that means a glasses-free look, better vision for sports, or the convenience of wearing sunglasses without prescription lenses.
Advances in contact lens technology now allow many patients with astigmatism, higher prescriptions, or the need for reading correction to successfully wear contact lenses.
Our doctors will evaluate your vision needs and eye health to determine the contact lens options that are best for you.
Contact Lens Evaluation
A contact lens prescription requires a contact lens evaluation in addition to your comprehensive eye exam. During this evaluation, our doctors assess how contact lenses fit and move on your eyes to ensure they provide clear, comfortable, and healthy vision.
Your evaluation may include:
- Measuring the shape of your cornea
- Evaluating your tear film and dryness
- Assessing lens fit and movement
- Determining the best lens design for your prescription and lifestyle
Because contact lenses sit directly on the surface of the eye, a contact lens evaluation is required each year to safely renew your contact lens prescription.
Trial lenses may be provided to ensure the best vision and comfort before finalizing your prescription.
Contact Lens Options
At Shannon Vision Care, we offer a variety of contact lens options and tailor our recommendations to each patient’s eyes and visual needs. More than 90% of our contact lens patients wear daily disposable lenses because they offer the healthiest and most convenient option for modern lifestyles.
Daily Disposable Lenses
Daily disposable lenses are the healthiest and most convenient option for many patients. A fresh pair is worn each day and discarded at night, eliminating the need for cleaning solutions and reducing the risk of irritation or infection.
Astigmatism (Toric) Lenses
Patients with astigmatism can enjoy clear, stable vision with specially designed toric contact lenses. Many astigmatism prescriptions are now available in daily disposable designs.
Multifocal Contact Lenses
Multifocal lenses allow patients who need reading glasses to see clearly at both distance and near without switching between multiple pairs of glasses. Many multifocal prescriptions are now available in daily disposable lenses as well.
Specialty Contact Lenses
For patients with unique prescriptions or visual needs, specialty lens designs may provide better clarity and comfort than standard lenses. Specialty lenses include Rigid Gas Permeable lenses, Scleral lenses or Ortho-Keratology lenses.
